Find and track a bill

Find the exact catalog record and add it to a list without confusing states or sessions.

Find the right record

  1. Open LegiTrack Search, enter a bill identifier or topic and use the jurisdiction and session filters available in your workspace.
  2. Open the result and check its identifier, jurisdiction, session, title and official source. Reused bill numbers can identify different legislation in another session.
  3. Open the list you want to use and search for the catalog bill in its Search a bill to track box. Choose the matching result and wait for Bill added to this list.
  4. Reopen the docket and record a tracking note or organization position where available. Confirm the saved result before using it in a report.

Current limits

Not finding a bill in Civitas does not prove it is absent from the official legislature's records. Confirm the coverage scope. Stored text and versions may be missing even when a catalog record exists. Personal lists can offer private manual entries; those are distinct from catalog bills, do not establish official data coverage and are excluded from the web report's catalog CSV export.
